We specialize in a wide variety of commercial, residential, institutional, and industrial building projects including but not limited to Tiny Homes, (ADU) Accessory Dwelling Units, Offices, Retail Spaces, Bars, Restaurants, She/He Sheds, Pool Houses, Podcast Studio, and even Garages! 

We start with a consultation to understand your vision and goals for the project. Then we are able to create a detailed plan and layout so that we are able to have a timeline for construction.

Shipping containers are almost always constructed from steel, which is an alloy of iron, and are therefore susceptible to rust. Marine grade Corten steel is used with anti-corrosive properties, but rust will eventually, inevitably occur. Proper care and maintenance will help our units outlive any shed or traditional pole building! 

Our units are designed for durability and low maintenance. We use high-quality direct-to-metal (DTM) paint for long-lasting protection, and all windows and door frames are fully welded to ensure a secure, waterproof seal. The original container roof features a factory-welded construction with a natural upward bow to promote water runoff. Floors are built with over 1” thick marine-grade or bamboo hardwood for added strength. These containers were originally engineered to endure countless transatlantic journeys — built to last in even the toughest conditions.

We have the ability to ship our creations all over the world. Trucking and shipping costs can add up fairly quickly depending on your location. Remember, shipping containers are meant to be moved!

Typically when we are custom building projects with extensive cutting & welding, we like to use one-trip containers with very little dents/dings and little to no "body work" needed. One-trip containers are made overseas and make one initial trip before the unit makes its way to us. 

At Recon, every unit is custom-built to meet our clients‘ specific needs — which means we don’t always have multiple finished models available for viewing. Over time, we’ve learned that no two clients have the same vision, so we build everything to order. That said, we do our best to keep at least one finished unit on hand for reference, though the model available may vary depending on current projects. Every shipping container that enters or leaves our facility is personally inspected by the owner to ensure it meets the highest standards of craftsmanship and durability.

Shipping containers are incredibly versatile, which allows for a range of foundation options depending on your needs. While containers can be placed almost anywhere, there are a few key factors to consider: How permanent is the installation? Does your local municipality have specific requirements? What are the soil and ground conditions like?

In most cases, we recommend concrete footers, a compacted stone base, or especially in colder climates — a concrete crawl space. For the most permanent setup, concrete footers or a crawl space with steel plate inlays are ideal. These inlays allow the container to be welded down upon delivery, helping to prevent any shifting over time.
